The last post on Eric's page made me reflect some more on a feeling I woke up with on Monday. It started before I was even fully awake and then continued throughout the morning. I kept feeling like 'does it have to be Monday again?' and I don't hate Mondays, I don't hate my job and I don't hate going to work. I just am tired of the cycle of starting over again every week. Maybe it's time for a vacation ;).
The thought I had was that it is related to Romans 8 (my favorite chapter) 23 "Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies" and that it is the feeling of being stuck in time while my spirit longs for eternity. I am reminded of the Rich Mullins song "Hard To Get" where he sings:
All I really need to know
Is if You who live in eternity
Hear the prayers of those of us who live in time
We can't see what's ahead
And we can not get free of what we've left behind
I'm reeling from these voices that keep screaming in my ears
All the words of shame and doubt, blame and regret
I can't see how You're leading me unless You've led me here
Where I'm lost enough to let myself be led
And so You've been here all along I guess
It's just Your ways and You are just plain hard to get
